Find Care and Support for Early-Stage T1D
We are building a network of “Local Experts” so that we can refer individuals and families with early-stage T1D to a nearby provider for education and metabolic monitoring.
Be sure to ask about your Local Expert(s) when you speak with Ask the Experts.
NOTE: Screening-only services and clinical trial enrollment are not currently displayed on the map.
NOTE: This map reflects health care professionals and centers who have voluntarily engaged with the Ask the Experts community. It does not represent all sites or providers offering early-stage type 1 diabetes screening, monitoring, or treatment. Individuals are encouraged to consult their local healthcare provider to identify additional resources or programs in their area.
What’s the difference between Clinical vs Research follow-up?
Clinical Follow-Up is routine medical care billed to insurance and tailored to your needs. Routine clinical care for people with Stage 1 or Stage 2 type 1 diabetes often includes testing (A1c/OGTT), CGM review, education, and care planning.
Research Study Follow-Up means your visits are part of a research protocol—a predefined plan (the study’s “rulebook”) with set tests and schedules designed to answer scientific questions. The study team (e.g., TrialNet) may collect extra labs or questionnaires, but they typically cannot provide full medical management (e.g., prescriptions, medical management plans) outside the protocol. These visits don’t typically replace your regular clinic care.
What does the “Treatment to Delay Progression” tag mean?
Clinical sites that administer or coordinate disease-modifying therapy for early-stage type 1 diabetes to slow progression (currently teplizumab / Tzield®). Eligibility and availability vary by age, timing, insurance, and general health requirements.
Disclaimer: Listings are informational and do not imply endorsement. Treatment eligibility and coverage are determined by your care team and insurer.
